In winter, our hair is negatively affected – frosty air, piercing wind, dry indoor air. The hair dries hard, sticks out in different directions, fluffs and generally looks unimportant. How to avoid this? We offer some simple and effective tips.
What do you need to do to maintain the health, shine and beauty of your hair even in winter?
Eat right
Pay special attention to nutrition. In order for your hair to be healthy, and therefore beautiful, your main menu should be seafood, poultry, lean meat, eggs, nuts, natural vegetable oil, bread made from coarse flour, sunflower seeds, sea cabbage, low-fat yogurt, hercules. In addition, the daily diet should include fresh fruits and vegetables.
At the same time, reduce the consumption of foods rich in saturated fats – sausages, pork, fast food, industrial sugar, white bread, alcohol. If you suffer from dandruff, increase your intake of alkaline foods. Start by eating green vegetables at least once a day.
Take vitamins
This is important not only for the health of the hair. Thanks to vitamin therapy, your body will survive the winter with the least losses. Hair is especially in need of vitamins A, C and E. Vitamin A promotes hair growth, vitamin C – strengthens and takes care of the roots, E – gives the hair a healthy shine, protects from the harmful effects of UV rays.

In winter, central heating and a car stove become the main enemies of our hair. Batteries create dry air in the room, comparable to the air in the desert. In the cold season, we often use a hairdryer, while drying our hair to the end, for fear of catching a cold. To minimize this harm, use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners in winter.
Do not forget about additional care
Once or twice a week, make nourishing hair masks. Castor, linseed, coconut, olive and other oils are ideal for this purpose. They envelop the hair, intensively nourishing and softening it, strengthen the roots and improve the structure, making the hair more flexible and durable. Masks with burdock oil have a good effect on the condition of the hair: it is enough to apply it for 20 minutes once a week. Burdock oil contains all the most useful vitamins: A, E, C and B vitamins. It contains iron, zinc, vanadium, tin, strontium, manganese, copper, etc. Burdock oil restores metabolism and blood flow in the scalp. Often it is the violation of these processes that cause the loss and split ends. Burdock oil restores shine to the hair and strengthens the bulbs.
Use an air humidifier
A simple and effective solution to the problem of dry indoor air during the heating season is a room humidifier with an ionization function.
Wear a hat
In order not to harm your own hair, do not neglect the hat, even if it spoils your styling. The fact is that the cold narrows the blood vessels of the head, which limits the access of vitamins and nutrients to the hair roots. As a result, the hair weakens and may begin to fall out. Masks for hair care in winter
For dry and curly hair:
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon shea butter
The volume is designed for hair up to the middle of the back.
Melt the oils in a water bath, mix and apply along the length. Cover with plastic wrap and hold for at least an hour. After the specified time, wash off the mask with shampoo.
The solid oils indicated in the composition can be replaced with cocoa butter, mango, etc.
For normal or oily hair:
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon of avocado oil
- 4 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil
- 4 drops of lavender essential oil
The volume is designed for hair up to the middle of the back.
Mix all the ingredients and apply the mask along the entire length, including the hair roots. Keep it for at least an hour.
The mask smoothes the hair very effectively. Avocado and sesame oil are rich in vitamins A, E, B, C, D, PP, fatty acids related to our skin. Ylang-ylang and lavender essential oils are very effective remedies for dryness and brittleness. They make the hair elastic, smooth and shiny.
