Australian scientists have concluded that chest pain during sports can indicate a heart attack. As reported by News.au, in particular, adult and elderly men are at risk of this. At the same time, it is noted that many people, even noticing chest pain, can ignore this dangerous symptom.
So, half of the men surveyed by scientists over the age of 35 reported that they would continue playing in the hope that the pain would stop. Experts called this statistic “frightening”, adding that according to statistics, one in five Australian adults involved in sports felt symptoms that may indicate diseases of the cardiovascular system.
“Although regular exercise improves health, intense physical activity causes a temporary increase in the risk of cardiovascular disease,” said Professor Jeffrey Tofler, one of the authors of the study.
