Researchers from the USA have figured out how to achieve the greatest effect when taking pills. It turns out that a person’s posture while drinking medications is essential.
The speed of action of the pill consumed depends on whether we are sitting, standing or lying on our back. This conclusion was reached by scientists from Johns Hopkins University. They developed a simulation of a human stomach, and then tested what would happen if you took a pill in four different poses: sitting and standing straight, lying on your back, lying on your right side, and finally lying on your left side. And there was a clear winner in this ranking.
It was found that if the person taking the pill was lying on his right side, the drugs dissolved 2.3 times faster than in a sitting position. As for the least correct posture, it was found in the lying position on the left side. Here, the tablets needed more than 100 minutes to dissolve, although there were only 10 on the right side.
Such a huge difference puzzled the researchers themselves. They had no idea that the position of the body has such a huge impact on the rate of dissolution of the pill. But if you seriously analyze the human anatomy, you can remember that the pill itself will not begin to act until its contents enter the intestine. And being on the right side, we speed up the transportation of the pill there as much as possible.
